Cape Verde Islands - Which Island to Choose?

SANTA ANTÃO - Marvellous mountainous scenery

A regular ferry service from São Vicente, takes just one hour. A day trip will allow you to traverse the island and see some of the spectacular scenery. The drive from Porto Novo over the mountain range to Ribeira is dramatic with the landscape quickly changing from being bare and arid to mountains, which as the road twists and turns, gives breathtaking views of verdant valleys.

FOGO - The island with a live volcano

The Pico de Fogo volcano rises to over 1700 metres. The scenery is simply stunning: dark rocks and black sands give an impression of a lunar landscape. This is where the famous Fogo wine is produced. São Filipe, the capital is a very pretty town, the old colonial pastel shaded buildings providing a complete contrast to the rest of the island.

BOA VISTA - Unspoilt expanses of beach and sea

Ringed by reefs, Boavista is a diver's paradise with many wrecks to explore, as well as being an excellent centre for windsurfing and fishing. The island is for relaxing on fabulous white sandy beaches and enjoying the tranquility, as apart from water sports there is little else to do. If you are very lucky you may see the turtles nesting on the beaches!
