Pestana Trópico Hotel ****

Located on a small hillside overlooking the Atlantic ocean amongst the old attractive colonial style mansions of Praia.

As well as being a very comfortable, well designed hotel, its restaurant 'Alex' is reputed to be one of the best in Santiago, serving Cape Verdean and Portuguese specialities as well as international dishes. It is ideally placed to enjoy the colours and vibrancy of this 'African' town and is the hotel most frequented by visiting dignitaries and businessmen as the airport is just 10 minutes away.

It is also an ideal base from which to explore the rest of the island. No stay here would be complete without at least a visit to the north to see the lush green tropical plantations of sugar cane and bananas, as well as a trip to the old capital of Cidade Velha.
